Released in December of 2012, the iQue 3DS XL was one of only 4 handhelds ever to be released by the company. IQue was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nintendo at this point. The iQue 3DS XL is the Chinese Version of the Nintendo 3DS XL. It was the only version of the 3DS offered by iQue. Unlike the Nintendo 3DS XL from other regions, the iQue 3DS XL has some unique differences to the Nintendo 3DS.

Most notably only 2 games have been released for the console and they were both preinstalled on every console made. No physical game cartridges were ever manufactured or released. This makes this 3DS highly collectible and truly unique. Due to the regional lockout, only games that provide simplified Chinese interface language can be used with the iQue 3DS XL. Besides the two installed games, there are only 14 compatible games released by Nintendo Hong Kong and Nintendo Taiwan that can also be used on this console and include a simplified Chinese interface.
